During the last couple of years, as we've lived through the pandemic, we have been subjected to many changes within our lives and the legal profession has also been very responsive to enable us to continue to provide service to our clients at a time when many needed it more than ever. We adapted to be able to take instructions via video using software such as Zoom and FaceTime, and have been very creative in ensuring clients were able to sign and witness their documents without invalidating them.
As life slowly gets back to a new kind of normality I am once again able to provide face to face meetings for clients. However, I have found that offering video meetings has worked for many people and, for those who would still prefer online discussions, I will be continuing to offer that service, or a combination of both face to face and video.
For the most up to date information on the current situation please check out my Facebook page and do get in touch if you would like to organise a meeting - virtual or in person!
ABOUT JAN COOK
In 2012, after leaving a long-standing and successful career as a manager in further education in County Durham, Jan took the opportunity to re-train and qualify as an estate planner. She successfully completed a programme of accreditation and examinations, and she is supported by a team of STEP qualified practitioners at Countrywide Tax and Trust Corporation Ltd enabling her to advise clients on the best possible planning to satisfy their individual needs. This is generally through putting in place Wills, Trusts and Lasting Powers of Attorney and for business clients can also include plans to ensure Business Protection.
Through researching and organising her own estate planning Jan became acutely aware as to just how many people do not have appropriate plans in place, even in the form of a simple Will, and she is passionate about raising awareness of the importance of full and effective estate planning. To this end she regularly speaks to community groups and offers talks to employers who are mindful of corporate responsibility and keen to provide their staff with a programme of support towards health and well-being.
"I love giving clients’ peace of mind from knowing that they have the best estate planning in place to protect their assets for the future and to guarantee their wishes will be followed".
Jan also works collaboratively with a number of other professional service sector providers, eg Accountants, Estate Agents, Mortgage Brokers, Financial Advisers, assisting them in enhancing the range of services they are able to offer their own clients through adding Legal Services to their brand. These have particular emphasis on estate planning services ie Wills, Trusts, Lasting Powers of Attorney and for clients of Accountancy practices in particular, Business Protection.
"I’m here to support you through the legal process in a relaxed and friendly environment, whether that be within your own home or via an office appointment. Ultimately we will achieve peace of mind for yourself and your family".
